One step at a time!
Hello!
So as you may or may not have noticed, there was no blog post last week (which you would've known about in advance if you followed me on Twitter...) as I've been very busy working on a trailer! Sadly that's not what I'm here to show you today, I'm taking a bit more time with it just to make it perfect (that and video editing isn't my strongest point)
In addition, these past few months I've been able to put a lot more time into the game but that will be slowing down a bit now - but fear not! Everything will come to be, eventually. This does mean that blog posts will probably not also be weekly, so again that's another reason to follow me and keep updated with everything!
Now on to the main topic:
Progression
I don't think the progression of the game has been properly discussed other than general little mentions here and there, and since most of my time recently has been bug fixing and polishing there's not really a lot of new features to talk about - so let's go over it!
The core progression of the game is based around Landraisers, obviously. Each new tier of Landraiser requires materials obtained through the last tier in order to stop you skipping ahead, and each tier also unlocks something new within the game:
- The first Landraiser is made out of very basic materials, and is simply to get you started. This simply raises dirt which, through erosion, turns into sand, clay, stone, and grass! These are the core tiles, and all Landraisers will function in this way. It is important to start this off as soon as you can, as this will be your gateway into expanding your island and accessing more materials to progress further!
- The second Landraiser, in addition to the core tiles, will raise Bedrock. This is what is needed in order for you to go Underground, as Mineshafts can only be placed on Bedrock! Underground, you will find metals and gems essential for both crafting the third Landraiser, and also for fighting the monsters down in the Dungeons!
- The third Landraiser raises entrances to Dungeonswhich, when used with a Rusty Key, start your adventure into a randomly generated dungeon! Delve deep and beat the boss for a chance at some very powerful gear!
Eventually, there will be more tiers of Landraiser. But for early access, we're stopping at 3 and will release more as time goes on! In the future, Landraisers that raise very specific tiles may be a feature - such as a Desert Landraiser that only raises Sand (and other desert features), this will enable you to craft an island exactly the way you want!
Apologies for this blog post being a bit brief and wordy, as I said there's not really many pictures of new things to show at the moment! But hopefully the next time we speak it will be with a Trailer in hand :)
